Fossils Page #02
Texas Rock Shop offers a diverse selection of Texas fossils, many from the Cretaceous Period. Once covered by an expanded Gulf of Mexico and subsequent recedings, Texas is replete with fossils of both vertebrates and invertebrates. In the collection are included fossil shells; steinkerns of Liopistha banderaensis (clams) and Tylostoma tumidum (snails); oysters of Exogyra ponderosa and Lopha travesana; brachiopods like Kingena choctawenesis and Punctospirifer kentuckensis; Lophophyllidium proliferum (horn coral); fossil bones and teeth from mammoths, sharks, mosasaurs, pleisiosaurs, horses, bison, and camels; and an abundant supply of silicified wood, including palmwood, genus Palmoxylon, from the Oligocene Epoch. Our pictures will show the individual pieces we are offering as we dust them off in the warehouse and get them posted in the coming months.
